Detection capabilities

Push button

A push button post will be placed on either side of the crossing. When the pedestrian presses the button, the recessed LED units will flash for an adjustable time in the image plane of the through car traffic. The system is configured in such a way that the (adjustable) crossing times of new pedestrians merge seamlessly. A control box will be placed near the crossing. The installation is operational 24 hours a day.


Infrared detection (directional)

A directional, active infrared detector is placed at both entrances (on either side of the entrance to the crossing). Only the pedestrian who is actually going to cross is detected, after which the LED units immediately start flashing. The pedestrian that has already crossed is not detected when leaving the crossing, in order to avoid unnecessary flashing again. The bright LED lamps flash in the image plane of the car traffic. The system is configured in such a way that the (adjustable) crossing times of new crossing pedestrians merge seamlessly.

Intelligent Video Detection


2 intelligent video cameras are attached to the existing light pole.


Immediately if, and as long as, the camera detects one (or more) crossing pedestrian(s) in the detection area, the LED units will flash. This is a “track & tracing” form of detection, only actual crossing movements are detected, after which the recessed bright LED lamps flash in the image plane of the car traffic. (For a reliable detection, an ambient lighting of min. approx. 12 lux should be taken into account).


Thermal Intelligent Video Detection


Two intelligent (thermal) video cameras are attached to the existing light pole. Immediately if, and as long as, the camera detects one (or more) crossing pedestrian(s)/cyclists in the detection area, the LED units will flash. This concerns a “track & tracing” form of detection. The recessed bright LED lights flash in the image plane of the car traffic. Since we use thermal video detection, the ambient lighting is not important for reliable detection.


After extensive testing and experience (with all other means of detection), we believe that the detection methods developed/applied by Traffic-Care are absolutely the most reliable/functional. In addition, we realize a light output that also offers excellent signaling on a summer day.
